Ordering at a BBQ counter

Understand portions, sides and the ordering process.

Start with the ordering system

Check whether you order at the counter, at the table or online. Read the menu before joining the line, and ask where to collect the finished order. A counter display does not necessarily show everything available that day.

Check how portions are sold

Find out whether the meat is sold by weight, as a plate, in a sandwich or as part of a combination. Ask what sides and bread are included. Compare complete orders rather than assuming that two menu prices cover the same amount.

Choose a manageable selection

For a first visit, choose a small selection you can compare comfortably. Ask staff about the cuts and preparations currently available, then choose sides that suit your group. Confirm sauce choices instead of assuming every order arrives dressed the same way.

Confirm before paying

Repeat the meats, portion sizes, sides and pickup name. Mention ingredient restrictions before the order is prepared and ask what the kitchen can accommodate. If a favourite item is unavailable, check the alternative and its price before agreeing.
